Part B provides compensation and medical benefits to current or former Department of Energy employees, employees of predecessor agencies, and certain atomic weapons employees who were diagnosed with a covered illness due to workplace exposure.

Part B also provides compensation to individuals awarded benefits under Section 5 of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).
The Special Exposure Cohort (SEC) is a designation under Part B that may allow certain workers with qualifying employment and a covered cancer to receive compensation without dose reconstruction. Eligibility is based on facility, time period, and diagnosis.
Part E provides compensation to Department of Energy contractor and subcontractor employees, as well as eligible survivors, for occupational illnesses causally linked to toxic exposures in the DOE work environment.

Eligibility under Part E is based on employment, exposure, and medical evidence establishing a causal relationship.
Certain atomic weapons employees may be eligible for benefits under Part B of the EEOICPA.
Eligibility is limited to specific employers, time periods, and covered illnesses, and is subject to statutory requirements.
Eligible survivors may qualify for benefits under Part B and/or Part E if the worker is deceased and met the program’s eligibility requirements.
